Possible FM22 features
At this point there has not been any news about new features for FM22, but there has been some gossip in the community.
Over the past couple of editions SI has introduced new player roles and new backroom staff roles to the game. We are expecting at least one new player role and at least one new staff role. There have been some talks about Sports psychologists being inttroduced. Since Football Manager has been putting more and more into the mental side of the game this coud be a role in FM22.
The Match Engine will be improved on both graphics and realism. This is also expected in other areas of the game such as the medical centre and development centre.
It has also been confirmed by SI that womens football will be introduced into Football Manager at some point. While FM22 seems to be a bit too early for this, it could be very possible that the first steps into womens football will be made in FM2022.
With the introduction of Yousouffa Moukoko, Football Manager finally saw the return of the infamous -10 wonderkid (a player with the talent of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo). While it is expected that Moukoko will be downgraded to a -95 wonderkid, there will be tons of new wonderkids to find and sign. Players born after July 2004 and before July 2005 will be added to the game.
Potential new wonderkids
|Luka Romero||Real Mallorca|
|Abdul Fatawu Issahaku||Liverpool|
|Oliwier Slawinski||Zaglebie Lubin|
SI and Manchester United legal dispute
On August 6 SI announced that their legal dispute with Manchester United has finally been resolved. In a statement, SI wrote:
Manchester United and Sega have agreed a settlement to amicably resolve their trademark dispute relating to Football Manager. Both parties are pleased to resolve this matter to their mutual satisfaction.
From FM22 onwards, the Manchester United football club will be named ‘Manchester UFC’ or ‘Man UFC’. These name changes have been made purely to settle the dispute on a no admissions basis.
SEGA and Sports Interactive maintain that they do not need a license to use the ‘Manchester United’ name but have made the change as a gesture of goodwill so that both parties can move on.
While the official name of Manchester United will change in the game, it will still be possible to use editor files to change the names. These have been in the game for years and updates like the FMI Update will change these names to their original.
XBox Game Pass
For the first time in history Football Manager will be available on Xbox and Xbox Game Pass on the official launch date. Xbox Game Pass is a subscription service that allows you to play more than 100 high-quality games for a small monthly fee. More information can be found on the Xbox website.
Other platforms on which FM22 will be available are Steam, EPIC Games, Nintendo Switch, Tablet and Mobile.
