Football Manager 2023 Beta explained

Lazy Oct 18, 2022 Last modified: 18 Oct 4,376 views

The Football Manager 2023 Beta is close to its release and in this article we will explain what the beta actually is and how it works.

Difference between Beta and Demo

As wel all know Football Manager 2023 will be released on November 8th 2022. But for those who have pre-ordered the game the beta version of FM23 will be available two weeks earlier.

The Beta is much more than just a demo. In a demo you are offered a short version of a game. For example only one level or the ability to play one single match. Football Manager has a yearly demo which is available, which is released and aimed at those who are new to the game in the hope to convince them to purchase the game.

The Beta version is actually the full version of Football Manager, including all the options you would expect. All leagues and nations are available and the full player and club database is available and players are really able to experience the full version of the game. There are some exceptions though: pregame and ingame editor. These aren't available during the beta stage of FM23 and will be released on November 8th. And the same goes for the Online options in Football Manager, including the Versus Mode.

Why release a Beta version?

The most important reason for releasing the Beta version is simply information. SI testers and developers will play the game throughout its development and they will find and/or fix common issues with the game. With the public release of the Beta, SI will get a very larg test group for free! Instead of a small team of dedicated testers or a small alfa test group, the beta will be tested by thousands.

Anyone who finds or encounters a bug in the game is asked to report the bug on the official SI forums. That way the technical team is able to mark bugs quickly and put them on a backlog in an attempt to fix them.

But the Beta is also a bit of a reward for loyal fans of the game. If you decide to complete a pre-order before the official release date you will receive early access in addition to a nice (30%) discount.

How do I get the FM23 Beta?

Easy! Just pre-order the game through our website at one of our partners. Once you have completed your purchase you will receive your activation code. The activation code can be used on Steam to complete the installation.

Do I have to update the game to the full version?

No, not at all! Once the game has been released on November 8th just restart steam and the game and it will be updated automatically.

Can I use logo, face or kit packs?

Yes! And the best thing is, you can reuse the ones you have downloaded and used for Football Manager 2022! Simply move the graphical addons to the correct FM23 folder and you are all set! Don't forget to follow the instructions for activating graphical packs though!

What about editor files in the FM23 Beta?

These can't be used until the pregame editor is released. This means that the FMInside Real Name Fix won't be available during the Beta stage. However, these will be made available shortly after the game's release on November 8th.

What about fake teams like Germany?

These can be fixed! Simply follow the steps for the activation of fake teams and it will work as it did in previous versions. Find our guide for that here.
