FM23 Wonderkids - Right Wingers

As many player positions and roles, the right winger has evolved in modern football. In the nineties and early 2000's the right winger was a player with the chalk of the sideline on his boot and his main focus was to pass his opponent on the outside and deliver a cross towards the centre.

nowadays the right winger can play in many ways and there is no real regular role for this position anymore. You have playmakers who like to come from the flank, for example Bruno Fernandes, Jack Grealish or Hakim Ziyech. You also have the more chunky attackers such as Thomas Muller or Rafael Leao who also like to play in space from the side but have nothing of the characteristics of a traditional winger.

This has of course also been translated into Football Manager 2023. The role of winger has changed considerably in recent years and you now have a large amount of available roles at your disposal for creating a successful tactic.
