This is the shortlist with the best young centre-backs in Football Manager 2024! Updated for FM24.3.

Just like the full-backs, central defenders or centre-backs have been forced to change their game over the years. From big and a bit clumsy, the modern centre-back is not only able to defend, but also needs to be quick on his feet and able to play a proper pass. In Football Manager the role of the central defender has also involved, especially when you see the different available roles for the position.

In this article we have collected the best centre-backs in Football Manager 2024 by using our own Player Database.

Important - The list we present is based on the positions a player could play in. It is therefore possible a player will pop-up on more than one list. There are several examples of central defenders who can play as a defensive midfielder or as a full-back.

FM24 World Class Centre-backs

Some absolutely buzzing wonderkids for the centre-back position. Giorgio Scalvini and Levi Colwill both surpass the magical potential line of 90, whilst new Man City ace Josko Gvardiol is just under the potential range. We also see Ajax ace Jorrel Hato back in this list. The youngster truly is one of the most exciting youngsters in this years edition of Football Manager.
