The central midfielder has one of the most crucial places in a football team. He is often the one who has to connect the defense with the attack and does so from a central location. A good midfielder, at least the old-fashioned midfielders, used to be able to both attack and defend. Nowadays you have many more specialties in football, but a good central midfielder still needs to be able to attack and defend.

On this list you will find the best central midfielders in Football Manager from 2021 with a maximum age of 21. All players can play in the MC and with the right training and guidance will be able to develop into very good players.

Because there are many players, we have divided the list into different sections. The first you come across are the 'elite midfielders'. They have the potential to reach the absolute top and have the potential to become contenders for winning the Ballon d'Or.

Then we have the 'classy midfielders'. They have what it takes to reach the top of global football and maybe even just a step higher.

Finally, we have the list of 'good midfielders'. They have the potential to become very good, but due to a dynamic potential it is more difficult to estimate them and they can also be placed at the lower end of their potential scale in a new game. Nevertheless, they can all become good players.
