A list with 5 exciting players who have made a transfer during the January winter window.
The January winter window is closed and there have been some exciting transfers! We have handpicked five exciting transfers which have all been included in our special winter window FMI Update 21.4!
* Note; the players in this list are still based on the standard database of FM21. We will update our database once the winterpatch has been released early march.
Martin Odegaard (Arsenal)
He made his professional debut at the age of 14 and became a Norwegian international at the age of 16. The star of Martin Odegaard grew rapidly in the first few years of his career. Dozens of clubs wanted to sign the attacking midfielder but he decided to sign a multi-year contract with Real Madrid. Now he is 21-years-old and he hasn't been able to force his way into the team at the Spanish giants. After spending several months on the bench and in the stands, Odegaard has left for Arsenal.
Mesut Ozil (Fenerbahce)
Where Martin Odegaard signed with Arsenal, Mesut Ozil left the Londoners. The German had a terrible spell with the Gunners after the failed 2018 World Cup and never reached his usual level again. This season, Ozil experienced a new low in his career when he was not registered for the Premier League and Europa League. Meanwhile, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for Ozil as he has signed a multi-year contract with the Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Dominik Szoboszlai (RB Leipzig)
Hungarian wonderkid Dominik Szoboszlai would have been one of the most wanted players during the winter window if he would have still been available. However, the former Red Bull Salzburg man decided to sign with parent club RB Leipzig before the January window even started. He is only 19-years-old but already considered as the best Hungarian footballer of the past few decades. A very talented player and one to keep an eye on when you are a few seasons in your save.
Luka Jovic (Eintracht Frankfurt)
His transfer to Real Madrid did not work out for him as he would have hoped. He had a terrible first season with the club in which he wasn't able to continue his amazing performances at Eintracht Frankfurt. It was expected that Jovic would have left Madrid during the summer but the Serbian decided he wanted to fight for his chances under Zinedine Zidane. He only played a few games and was left on the bench regularly. He has now returned to his former club Eintracht Frankfurt and with his goalscoring abilities he could be making an immediate impact at the Bundesliga side. The return of Jovic has made a save with Frankfurt extra interesting!
Arek Milik (Olympique Marseille)
The winter window gave Polish forward Arek Milik the chance to end a horrendous first part of the 2020-21 season. The former Ajax man was banned from the first team after he openly rejected to sign a new contract at Napoli. He was forced to train on his own and wasn't allowed to spend time with the players of the first team. There were several rumours linking Milik to a Premier League or LaLiga move, but in the end he decided to sign for French giants Olympique Marseille. The 26-year-old is a very good goalscorer and with the addition of Milik, Marseille could become real challengers for the Ligue 1 title in FM21.
