Unfortunately we were forced to take down the Player Attributes from our website. Read this article to find out why.
As most of you may have noticed the player attributes have disappeared from our website. They have been replaced with progress bars. This has not been our choice. Some time ago received an e-mail from the SEGA legal department and were forced to take down the attributes from our website. Luckily we were allowed to keep the databases online and most information that can be used to find new players is still available. However, the attributes in the player profiles can't be used anymore.
We would also like to state that we are deeply saddened to receive such an order from companies like Sports Interactive, SEGA and Football Manager as they continue to prevent fansites to help them increase the popularity of their game. We have been active in the community for 20 years and have spent thousands of hours on helping fans improve their knowlegde of the game, the level they manage on and increasing the realism of Football Manager by creating free to use transfer updates and other mods for the game, which are used by hundreds of thousands every year.
It is unfortunate that parties like Sports Interactive, SEGA and Football Manager have forced us to change the database on our website even though it has only helped players to play the game. The database and the information is the database has not pushed players away from the game. We truly believe that it has done the exact opposite of that.
What will happen now?
In the time that we were given by the SEGA legal team the best thing we could do is hide the attributes and replace them with new abilities. We know this is not the most ideal situation but we hope you can understand that this was the best we could do and also the only thing we were allowed to do.
Despite this major setback we are motivated to find new ways to bring you the best possible content for Football Manager. We have already started thinking on how to improve this area. However, we also hope you understand that it will take time to create algortihms and formulas.
It is a tough cookie to swallow. We have been part of the official fan scheme of Football Manager in the past and we have always supported the game and it's creators in many positive ways. For them not to even consider dialog and only make contact through lawyers is something we are very sad about. This shows that the creators of the game don't think about the fans that play their game at all....
