Stars
Coaches in Football Manager receive an amount of stars for a training category. 5 star training is the best you can get and 1 star is the worst. Although it shows the quality of that particular category, it also shows the Workload for a coach in a category.
Having a high Workload can result in having wining players about the quality of the training. So remember; if there is ever a player that is concerned about the Team Training, check the Workload first in the training tab in Football Manager.
General training in Football Manager can be divided in three different areas, which all have their own categories:
- Fitness
- Strength
- Aerobic
- General
- Tactics
- Ball Control
- Defending
- Attacking
- Shooting
- Goalkeeping
- Shot Stopping
- Handling
- Distribution
How to reach 5 star training
In an ideal situation, you would have a specialist coach for each of the nine different categories. Each coach will need different attributes, but there are three that are always needed if you want 5 star training. These are:
- Determination
- Discipline
- Motivation
From now on we will refer to these attributes as 'DDM'.
Then using the following formula, you can calculate if a coach will get 5 star training before you sign him:
Attribute * X + DDM * X
Looks difficult, but believe us when we say this is very easy to apply in your game. We will show you every calculation and we will give some easy to follow examples.

Example
You have the following coach under contract and we would like to know how many stars he will get for his best attribute: fitness.
As you have learned before, you will need the following formula:
Fitness * 9 + DDM * 2
If you use the formula correctly you will get:
14 * 9 + 37 * 2 = 126 + 74 = 200
If we the take a look at the results for the Fitness Training Category, we see that: 180-209 = 3.5 star. This means that this coach will receive a 3.5 star maximum on fitness training.
