There are four types of sugar daddy's in Football Manager:

Foreground

If you love spending big, clubs with a foreground sugar daddy are ideal for you! These types of owners will put large amounts of money into the club with the goal to become the best of the best. Examples are Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.

Background

The background sugar daddy will act a lot calmer than the foreground types. The will ensure that the club's financial situation remains stable but they won't be investing large chunks of money into the club. The background sugar daddy's tend to reward performances and will invest money into the club if you reach promotion or win championships.

Underwriter

This type is the most common type in Football Manager. After a takeover they will clear the debts of a club and will invest a little money to make a good start. After that the club will be responsible for their own finances and the budgets you will receive will depend on the performances on the pitch and player sales. If the club fails to meet financial standards and things start to go wrong, they could step in and invest to avoid the club from going bankrupt.

Underwriter (Expects returns)

The lesser common underwriter will expect to recover the money they have invested in the club during the takeover. They will clear the club's debts but will then expect you pay off their investment first before you will be given large budgets to invest. This will make a save with this type of sugar daddy more difficult.
