HOW TO ADD CUSTOM SKINS
The Base Skin in Football Manager is a great and simple looking skin, but is rather limited in its options. Luckily the community offers a large amount of incredible custom skins available to download.
You have skins that offer:
- Instant result buttons
- Custom background images
- Official scoreboards
- And many other types of graphical improvements.
In this guide we will be explaining how you can download custom skins and how to add them in Football Manager.
*Note: the examples we use in this guide are for Football Manager 2017, but will also work in other versions of the game. However, custom skins that are designed for FM17 will not work in older versions.
1. Download a Custom Skin
When you have found a custom skin that you like, you can download it directly on to your desktop or laptop.
Most of these skins have been packed with a program called WinRAR.
After you downloaded the skin, you can ‘unpack’ its content using WinRAR (you can download it for free).
And if you are still looking for a skin to download, we have gathered the best skins for you in our download area.
2. Place the skin in the correct folder
After you downloaded the custom skin and unpacked the .rar file, you need to make sure to place the entire Skin folder in the correct folder for Football Manager to use it.
The folders are:
Windows: C:\Users\\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager xxxx\skins\
Mac OS X: /Users//Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager xxxx/skins/
*The xxxx marks the version you are using. For example; 2016, 2017, 2018.
3. Activating the skin
Start Football Manager and after the start screen is done loading, navigate to Preferences (located in the bottom section).
When in Preferences, navigate to the Interface tab. On the left side you will see an area named ‘Appearance’.
Use the drop down menu to select the custom skin you would like to use. If you see the name of the skin you have downloaded, you have followed the steps correctly.
Select the skin you would like to use and press Confirm at the bottom of the screen. If all steps are followed correctly, you will be seeing your freshly downloaded skin being loaded.
