FM24 Expected player upgrades

The 23/24 season is underway and we are only a couple of weeks away of the official release of Football Manager 2024. Next to the new features, we are looking forward to see the abilities of the players and how these are reflected in the new game! The big question is: which players had a great 22/23 season and earned themselves an upgrade to either their ability or potential or even both!

Below you will find a list of players that we expect to receive an upgrade in FM24 compared to their profiles in FM23.

Kim-Min Jae - Bayern Munich

Italian Napoli completed one of the best transfers ever in the club's history last year by signing Kim Min-Jae from Fenerbahce. The Korean turned out to be a golden move for Napoli, which managed to win the title in Serie A for the first time in over thirty years. Min-Jae was one of the standout performers every week and earned himself a transfer to Bayern Munich this summer. A lot is expected of the Korean in Germany and we expect it to get one of the biggest upgrades of all.

WIlliam Saliba - Arsenal

William Saliba was signed by Arsenal from Saint-Etienne a few years ago as a promising youngster. The French defender had difficulty to adapt to the higher level in London and was sent out on loan several times. Last season Saliba enjoyed his big breakthrough at Arsenal and was one of the absolute key performers in Mikel Arteta's team. His performance last year warrants a ability upgrade in FM24, whilst his potential will remain the same.

Jamal Musiala - Bayern Munich

If you are one of the key performers at Bayern Munich at the age of 19 you truly are a great footballer. The sky seems to be the limit for Jamal Musiala at the moment and the young German international keeps on improving every year. After a steller season at the Bavarians, Musiala is set to achieve new heights in FM24 as we expect him to surpass the FMI rating milestone to receive a 'golden' ability rating.

Moises Caicedo - Chelsea

Moises Caicedo's story could be compared to a true fairy tale. The young midfielder from Ecuador came to Europe only two years ago at Brighton Hove & Albion. He was loaned to Beerschot in Belgium to gain experience. Injuries at Brighton forced him to return to England after just six months and he quickly became a regular starter with the Seagulls. Last season, Caicedo developed even further and that earned him a big money transfer to Chelsea. An upgrade for Caicedo seems to be a no-brainer!

Gavi - FC Barcelona

Gavi made his debut for FC Barcelona at the age of sixteen and managed to secure a permanent spot in the midfield for the Spaniards last season. The now 18-year-old midfielder has already participated in both the European Championship and the World Cup with Spain and helped Barcelona win the LaLiga title. The rising star of the young midfielder continues to shine, and we anticipate that he will receive a significant upgrade in FM24, placing him among the top 25 midfielders in the game.

Kolo Randal Muani - Paris Saint-Germain

Who knew Kolo Muani a year ago? The life of the young French forward was completely turned upside down when, as a relatively unknown player, he was selected to participate in the World Cup in Qatar. There, the world was introduced to the towering striker from Eintracht Frankfurt, who came close to leading France to the World Cup title. After just one season in Germany, Muani was sold to Paris Saint-Germain for the staggering sum of 100 million euros. In the French capital, Muani is expected to inject new energy into PSG after the club lost two stars, Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Rasmus Hojlund - Manchester United

Rasmus Hojlund's star is still on the rise. The just 20-year-old Dane was signed by Atalanta last summer and was given the opportunity to develop as a backup. Hojlund's career accelerated in Italy, and in just one season, he emerged as one of Serie A's standout players. Hojlund possesses all the qualities to become a top-tier attacker, a fact not lost on Manchester United. The Red Devils decided to pay 75 million for the Dane and bring him to the Premier League. Will Hojlund become the new Haaland?

Xavi Simons - PSG/RB Leipzig

At the age of 15, Xavi Simons signed a contract with Nike and was quickly tipped as a future world-class footballer. After stints at FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, Simons joined PSV last season. At the Dutch top club, he emerged as a star player, prompting PSG to bring him back to the club. However, there is no place for Simons in France, as he will be playing for Bundesliga club RB Leipzig next season. Due to his outstanding season at PSV and his debut for the Dutch national team, we expect a significant upgrade for Simons in FM24.

Other notable players

Of course there a dozens of players who will receive an upgrade in FM24 but not everyone made it to the list. Below is a small shortlist with several other players who will be on the upgrade list when FM24 hits the stores on November 6th!
