Valencia CF could be the club to challenge Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid for a spot in the top 3 in Spain. The club has a rich history, a nice new stadium to look forward too and a very good youth set-up. Can you win them their first Champions League in Football Manager 2019?
Valencia club history
Spanish club Valencia CF was founded in 1919 and is the third most successful club in Spain after Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. The club has won 6 LaLiga titles and also celebrated multiple European successes, winning 3 Europa Leagues and 2 UEFA Super Cups.
Valencia’s prime period was in the modern era in football. At the start of the 21st century the club was considered the best club in Spain and celebrated a total of 2 league titles (02 & 04). They also reached two consecutive Champions League finals, losing both to Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Over the years Valencia has received many praise for their excellent youth academy. Products of their academy include world-class talents such as Raúl Albiol, Andrés Palop, Miguel Ángel Angulo, David Albelda, Gaizka Mendieta and David Silva. Current stars of the game to have graduated in recent years include Isco, Jordi Alba, Juan Bernat, José Gayà and Paco Alcácer.
When starting your career at Valencia in Football Manager 2019, the club’s president will welcome you to the club and he will then inform you that there will be NO philosophy’s which you will be judged on during your spell at the club.
In your first season you will be playing in three different competitions. In the LaLiga the board expects you to finish in a spot that earns you qualification for the Europa League (top 7). You also play in the UEFA Champions League and the club expects you to qualify for the first knockout stage. In the Copa Del Rey you are expected to reach at least the Quarter Finals.
Valencia is a healthy club in FM19 and they have a positive bank balance around €45M. To achieve your goals you will be given a €15M transfer budget. There is a €1.65M weekly wage budget available and there is little to no space left in the budget. You will have to sell players to create some room in your wage budget. The scouting budget is set on €800k.
The Valencia squad shows a total of 26 players. Five of these players are currently away on loan. Four players are currently on loan at Valencia, including Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi. The average age of your squad is 25 and that shows they have a good mix of experience and young players.
Looking at some of the facts in Football Manager 2019, we can see that Valencia has one of the tallest squads in La Liga, while also one of the younger squads. There is one area that they have the best average in LaLiga and that is on youth caps. This shows the club has some very talented players in the squad.
Best players and Talents
We picked a 4-2-4 tactic for Valencia as we feel this is the best option for the team. You have several good strikers and it would be a shame to play with a single striker up front. If you are playing against a better opponent, you could always switch back to a 4-4-2, which is less risky.
In goal we opt with Neto. The 28-year-old Brazilian is a decent goalkeeper, but not a world-class one. However, he is better than Jaume Domenech. At right back we picked Daniel Wass, who is an attacking full-back. On the left Spanish international and former wonderkid Jose Gaya. In his prime he could be the best left back in FM19. In the centre we picked Mouctar Diakhaby, who is one of the most talented centre-backs in the game. Besides him we picked Argentnian international Ezequiel Garay. Experienced player, who you will be needing.
Two playmaking midfielders in the centre of the pitch. Dani Parejo is the team captain and your best playmaker. He should be given the ball and dictate the play from the MC position. Next to him is young Carlos Soler. He is more a drifter and could be the ideal man to work the space between the two wingers and behind the strikers.
On the flanks we posted Portugal international Goncalo Guedes. Still only 21 years and a massive talent in the game. On the right we chose Ferran Torres, who is only 18-years-old. It may be a little too soon for him in the starting eleven, but seeing his talent we would always advice you to play him. Massive wonderkid, wist massive potential.
Up front we have picked Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi. He is powerful and a very good finisher. He is the ideal targetman / advanced forward. Next to him is your star player; Rodrigo. A very quick and deadly striker. Ideal to be the partner of a larger and more power forward like Batshuayi. On the bench you also have Santi Mina, a very big talent. Also keep an eye on him as he will develop into a very good striker as well.
