Seeing Sergio Gomez being a fresh face at Dortmund in Football Manager 2018, we can say he is unavailable for a transfer in the first transfer window…for a normal price. At the end of the day, everyone is for sale. If you bid around 70/80M, Dortmund will be willing to sell the Spanish youngster. I would too if you just bought him for 2.7M… Problem is: Gomez doesn’t want to move clubs. He has just arrived and wants to stay and fight for his chances. Even if you have enough money to splash, this kid wants to stay in Dortmund. We also tried to make a loan offer, but that wasn’t an option.
Needless to say: if you want to sign Gomez, you will have to wait for at least the winter window or the next summer window.
Sergio Gomez starts off in Dortmund’s U19 team and he is considered as the player with the highest potential on the team. He might even be the most talented player at the club (depending on the save and his dynamic potential).
The coaches at Dortmund are all praising Gomez and his skills/talent. He is natural in a couple positions, which makes him a versatile and valuable member. Gomez is considered to be a very technical player, which is typical for a Spanish midfielder. The club sees in him a central midfielder in a playmaker role and we would advice the same. Technical, a good passer and enough dribbling skills to work in tight spaces.
Does he have any cons? Off course he has, as every 16-year-old has. According to the coaching staff he should be working on his Heading, which isn’t that important as a central midfielder. We would like to see him become a little more all-round. He is already a good playmaker with all needed attributes already over 12, but we also would like him to pick up his defensive attributes. He does not need to be the next N’Golo Kante in terms of defending and ball-winning, but he could improve on that area.
It is also advised that you link him up with an experienced player. You have three choices: Mario Gotze, Andriy Yarmolenko and Shinji Kagawa.
