My Football Manager 19 Plans

With the recent announcement of the new features that we will be getting in the upcoming Football Manager 2019, I – David Jackson – wanted to outline my plans for the latest installment of the game!

Beta Save – Borussia Dortmund

With Football Manager 2019 finally including full Bundesliga licensing, there is no better time than now to do a Bundesliga save. For my beta save, I want to ease myself into the new game and get used to the new features. I want a team where there is work to do but not too much work. As such, there was only one choice. Everyone’s favourite Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund.

Not only are Dortmund my second club, they are one of the most interesting clubs in Germany. Having lost manager Thomas Tuchel to PSG, they have appointed former Nice manager Lucien Favre to replace him. Favre knows all about the Bundesliga, having managed Hertha and Gladbach previously. The Swiss man is known for his attacking and passing-based tactics.

For my save, my aim will be to conquer giants Bayern Munich as quick as possible. This means not only win the Bundesliga, but win the Champions League also. My first job will be to stop the selling of key players to Munich, which means I will have to compete in the Champions League from the start to entice world class talent. Bayern Munich have long been the best team in Germany, but hopefully Dortmund, with me as manager, can become the next big European giants of football.

Journeyman Save – Longford Town

You might be asking yourself “Who the f*** are Longford Town? Playing in the Irish second division, Longford Town are in fact my local club. I always find the first few months of an unemployed journeyman save to be tedious, just trying desperately to find a club that will take you despite your awful stats. So, I’ve decided to start my FM19 managerial career in my home country.

My aim with Longford Town will be to get promoted and hopefully, eventually win the SSE Airtricity League first division. Once I have done this, I will move on to another country, continuing my climb up the managerial ladder. I am really excited to get going with my first journeyman save in years, with my local club Longford Town.

The 2Game FM Premier League

I am delighted to announce that I will taking part in one of the most exciting new creations by the FM community in FM19. Myself and 19 other members of the FM community will each be taking charge of a premier league and competing against one another in one big online save. I will be taking charge of newly-promoted Fulham and I’m incredibly excited to get going with this great new idea!

You can get updates of the 2Game FM Premier League on Twitter @fm_premier or on the League’s website thefmpremierleague.wordpress.com!

So that’s it for my FM19 plans! What do you think of my save ideas? What are your FM19 plans? Let me know by leaving a comment below!

  1. Dortmund didn’t loose Thomas Tuchel to PSG, he was fired at the end of the 2016/2017 season and was succeeded by Peter Bosz and Peter Stöger before Lucien Favre was hired this season. Get your facts right!
