Part 7 - Preseason & Transfers

March is over, so time to get a quick update in my Journeyman Career. In this Update you will find the first results of the season as the Preseason has started! We also had a Cup Match to play, so there is a lot to discuss! Enjoy reading Part VII of The JourneyMan.

First up are the Transfers. In the last Blog I already expressed my concerns about the lack of Full Backs and Central Midfielders. Well, the first two transfers have been made!

Jan Axel Skonnord - 24 years - Midfielder Centre / Defensive Midfielder

A good addition to the squad with this Bal Winning Midfielder. His technical Attributes are not that high, but he makes up for it with some outstanding Mental Attributes. Unfortunately he lacks some pace, but at this level that is not a very big deal..

Vemund Knudsen - 24 years - Midfielder Centre / Defensive Midfielder / Full Back Right/Left

Another good addition to the squad. This lad is more a technical midfielder and he has some good qualities in the Passing department. Good thing about Knudsen is his versatility. He can play in multiple positions and with the lack of good fitness coaching, this could come in handy when we face some injuries.

We will continue looking for new players, as we still lack some players who can play as a Full Back or Wing Back. And I also would like a Central Defender with some Leadership qualities.

I did not get to play any matches at Chomutov, so my managerial debut was made on Saturday 12th March in a home game against Ull/Kisa. We played in a 3-5-2 formation and I saw the game end in a 1-1 draw. A fair result on the end of the day, but seeing we had some opportunities to score more goals in the final half hour I felt the game could have been won.

We then played 3 more games in March, picking up 1 win, 1 loss and 1 draw. The goalless draw was again a fair result for the day. The loss three days later against a much bigger side was a little bit unlucky. We took the lead after two minutes, conceding two goals in the final third of the game. We showed a bigger club what we are capable of and that makes me a very happy man. And to keep in a positive flow we won away at IFK Sunne (3-1). We showed some clinical finishing in that game and we picked up our first win of the Preseason Friendly Tour.

Right in the middle of our Preseason tour we had to play our first official match of the season. We played away from home and we would play Svelvik, a club that plays on the same level as we do. We did not have any troubles that match, although conceding an early goal after 35 seconds of play. Luckily Sebastian Stenqvist equalized only two minutes later and after that we got control of the game. We managed to score two more in the first half, which helped us keeping the score in the second half. We switched play in the second half to a control play and with that we kept the ball, not giving away any chances to Svelvik. A well deserved victory for us and with the win we have qualified for the final round of the preliminary. We will play FK Gjovik-Lyn, another 4th division club, just like us.

This was the March 2016 Update. I hope you like my Update Style and I hope you had fun reading it. In April we will be preparing ourselves for the first League Matches, but we will also be hoping to qualify for the Norwegian Cup by beating FK Gjovik. The next update will be posted somewhere this weekend, if I can find some time to play.
