FM Premier League – Matchweek 8

FM-League-Match-8

Welcome back to the FM Premier League! After the first week of the FM FA Cup last week, in which we won 7-1 against Oldham, we are back to the league with a hard game against OldGouldandBlack’s Arsenal.

Tactics

This week, I made just one change to the side that impressed me in last week’s 7-1 win. Calum Chambers started at centre-back against his parent club, coming in for Tim Ream.

I also stuck with the same attacking 4-3-3 that we played with last week.

Fulham vs Arsenal

The first half could have been a lot worse, considering the quality of our opponent. For the most part, we managed to keep in the game, with Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang making the difference. Whilst we were missing clear chances to score, Aubameyang was clinical at the other end, scoring a first half brace.

At half-time I made one change, Jean Michel Seri came in for Tom Cairney. Our fate did not change however, as Hector Bellerin scored a stunner from the edge of the box, making it 3-0. Henrikh Mkhitaryan made it 4 minutes later and we were once again on the receiving end of a bad loss.

Substitute Jean-Michel Seri scored a wonderful free-kick to mark his first goal in the FM Premier League, which was a bonus, but unfortunately only a consolation.

Match Reaction

These losses are starting to¬†accumulate and we have to break out of this bad form. While Arsenal are a very good team, we have to start getting better performances from the team. Fulham’s reluctance to buy anyone this January is not helping either!

Both strikers, Alexsandar Mitrovic and Luciano Vietto, put in sub-par performances today and missed some excellent opportunites. We need to become more defensively solid and also clinical going forward.

Next Opponent: Cardiff City (FMTrequartista)

Next week we are up against FMTrequartista’s Cardiff City. This is a must-win for us as it looks like we could be in a relegation fight this season. I will need my team to be in top form and I believe, if we can play up to our potential, we should be able to comfortably beat Cardiff!
