FM Premier League – Matchweek 4

Welcome to Matchweek 4 of the FM Premier League! Last week, my Fulham side got it’s first win of the season against Sammydoda’s Burnley. This week, I would face 53Bast1an’s Brighton, and I was looking for back to back wins!

For this game, I named an unchanged starting XI to the one that started last week. Joe Bryan kept his place at left-back, having impressed last week. Ryan Sessegnon returned to the bench, after serving his 1 match suspension last week.

I decided to change my wingers duty from support to attack this week. I’ve been quite unhappy with their contribution so far. Alexsandar Mitrovic would yet again be our focal point up top, the Serbian grabbed his first goal in the league last week.

Brighton vs Fulham

We made an absolutely brilliant start to the game. Our side attacked from the off, and it was only after 10 minutes that we had our first goal. Joe Bryan received the ball deep on the left wing, playing a ball over the top to Andre Schurrle. The on-loan Borussia Dortmund star floated a ball in for Mitrovic to do what he always does, heading the ball into the far corner!

Just minutes later, we had our second goal! Jean-Michel Seri played in his midfield partner, Tom Cairney, who coolly slotted the ball past Matthew Ryan in goal! Great start from our boys!

Brighton unfortunately pulled one back before the half time whistle. Calum Chambers fouled Glenn Murray inside the box, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. Murray, as clinical as ever, scored the penalty.

In the 2nd half, I decided to go with a more cautious mentality. I could see a bottle incoming, and it looked like it was going to happen when Glenn Murray equalised for Brighton. I could just see Murray getting a hat-trick, so I decided to switch back to the attacking mentality, bringing on Ryan Sessegnon for Luciano Vietto in the process.

The change didn’t look like it was going to work, up until the dying seconds of the game. The ball was whipped into the danger area, and after a scrap between Mitrovic and Ryan, the referee pointed to the spot for the 2nd time! Mitrovic stepped up, and scored his 2nd last minute winner in 2 games!

Match Reaction

I was once again delighted to see my team pick up another 3 points. The game was thrilling and I really thought we played well. There are still issues to be sorted out, but my team is starting to gel together!

With back to back wins, we are starting to create a gap between us and the dreaded relegation zone, hopefully we can begin to look up the table now!

Next Opponent: Manchester City (FMPoacher)

Next week we have a really tough game, playing away to FMPoacher’s Manchester City. City will be right up there in the title chase this year, and it will take a big performance to beat them. I believe we can do it, though, and hopefully we will. Let’s go Fulham!
