FM Premier League – Matchweek 3

FM League Matchday 3 Burnley vs Fulham

Welcome back to matchweek 3 of the FM Premier League! Last time out, my Fulham side suffered an unfortunate 1-0 loss to Bigdadyham’s Spurs. This week, I would face Sammydoda’s Burnley, and I was expecting a much better performance!

Tactics

This week, I decided to stick with the 4-3-3 that I have used in the previous 2 games. The instructions stayed mainly the same, but there was 3 changes to the lineup. Joe Bryan replaced the suspended Ryan Sessegnon, Luciano Vietto returned from injury to replace Neeskens Kebano and Alfie Mawson came in for Maxime Le Marchand.

Rather than trying to work the ball into the box like I have been previously, I decided to start hitting early crosses and long balls over the top of the defence, for Alexsandar Mitrovic to latch onto.

Fulham vs Burnley

In the first 45 minutes, the game was pretty even. My side had a few decent chances, with Mitrovic and Luciano Vietto having the most clear-cut. I was disappointed that my side hadn’t scored at half-time, but I was confident we would get our goal eventually.

My team continued to threaten Sammy’s Burnley, but we just couldn’t find that goal. The more the game went on, the more I was expecting Burnley to grab a goal on the break, and I would get “FM’d”. Just as I was starting to believe we wouldn’t get a goal, there was a highlight in the 91st minute. Joe Bryan picked up the ball on the left wing, and whipped in a wonderful cross for the big man, Alexsandar Mitrovic, to power the ball into the back of the net with a bullet header. What a goal!

Match Reaction

I was absolutely delighted that my team managed to finally get that winning goal late on. I feel we really deserved to win this game, after having majority of the chances. We threatened the opposition from start to finish, and could’ve easily had 3-4 goals.

I was really happy that Joe Bryan impressed in his first appearance in the FM Premier League. The left-back grabbed a great assist for our only goal, and he has earned a start in our next game.

Next Opponent: Brighton (53Bast1an)

Next week we have another winnable game. We will face 53Bast1an’s Brighton side, who I will be hoping to beat. I’m delighted to get my first 3 points of the season this week, hopefully we can build on this and get another next week! Let’s go Fulham!
