Welcome back to the FM Premier League! After a 4-2 loss to Wolves last time out, our Fulham side faced a huge game in the relegation battle, Huddersfield managed by BadJokesGaming!
This week, we made 2 changes to the lineup that faced Wolves, both at centre back. Havard Nordtveit and Tim Ream dropped out for Alfie Mawson and Maxime Le Marchand.
Fulham vs Huddersfield
The first half consisted of an excellent midfield display from us. Tom Cairney pulled the strings as a deep lying playmaker, whilst Frank Zambo Anguissa broke up the play to allow Jean Michael Seri to roam around the edge of the opponents box. Seri’s work was rewarded after 20 minutes when he scored a brilliant goal from outside the box. Despite Calum Chambers injury, we were able to hold until half time.
At half time, we made 1 change, with Floyd Ayite replacing Andre Schurrle. This provided with some much needed pace on the counter attack as Ayite caused them many problems on the break. We produced a solid defensive display to keep Huddersfield at bay for the remainder of the game, with Ryan Sessegnon and Timothy Fosu-Mensah threatening on the counter attack.
What a huge win for Fulham! We were absolutely crying out for 3 points and we’ve finally got it! I’m proud of the performance we produced there, especially from our defence! Marcus Bettinelli has cemented his place in goal for the time being, and it was great to see solid performances from Maxime Le Marchand and Ryan Sessegnon! This win takes us off the bottom of the FM Premier League, and will be crucial in our bid for survival!
Next Opponent: Arsenal (OldGouldandBlack)
Our next opponent will be league leaders Arsenal, managed by OldGouldandBlack. This will not be an easy task by any means, but after a really encouraging performance this week, my confidence in this team has been restored! I believe we can stay up, and with some huge games coming up, the next few weeks will be crucial!
