FM Premier League – Matchweek 2

Welcome back to the FM Premier League! Last week, my Fulham side disappointingly lost 1-0 to Fryman7’s Crystal Palace. This week, I was up against Bigdadyham’s Tottenham, and I was expecting yet another tough tie!

For my second game in charge of Fulham, I made 3 changes from last week’s side. In goal, Sergio Rico came in for Marcus Bettinelli, while in defence, Maxime Le Marchand replaced Alfie Mawson, who was dropped after last weeks antics. The final change was Neeskens Kebano, who replaced the injured Luciano Vietto at right wing.

Rather than sitting back and letting Spurs attack us, I decided to play an attacking style of play once again this week. I figured that if we allowed Spurs to control the game, we could easily get smashed by 4-5 goals, so rather than doing that, I wanted to surprise our opposition, and hopefully grab a goal on the break.

Spurs vs Fulham

After yet another uneventful start to the game, the deadlock was finally broken after 41 minutes. Unfortunately, it was Bigdadyham’s Spurs who broke it. It was star striker Harry Kane who put my opponent 1-0 up, and it stayed that way until half-time.

My side were improving as the game went on, that was until Ryan Sessegnon decided to get himself sent off! The English left-back received his second yellow card after an awful challenge from behind on Christian Eriksen. Unfortunately, the game froze as Sessegnon was sent off, seeing as my opponent is in America and I’m in Ireland, I think FM can be excused.

As a result of the rules should an event like happen, myself and Bigdadyham had to jump into another game and play the first 20 minutes (Remaining minutes from the first game). And seeing as I had a man sent off, I was forced to play my substitute keeper in that position. Surprisingly, Fabricio didn’t do too bad in his new position! We had one major chance in the last 20 minutes, with Alexsandar Mitrovic missing a one-on-one with Hugo Lloris.

Match Reaction

Overall, I was much more pleased with my team’s performance this week compared to last. I never really expected to beat such a strong Tottenham side, but my team played very well and was in the game for the whole 90 minutes. In the final 20 minutes, even with a man down, we really started to threaten our opposition and created some really good chances.

I’m disappointed that Ryan Sessegnon was sent off, and he will miss next week’s fixture. It was a silly booking and something we definitely could’ve done without. I need to start seeing more out Alexsandar Mitrovic also, as I really don’t have much better options than him.

Next Opponent: Burnley (thesammydoda)

Next week I will be up against Burnley managed by thesammydoda. This is the only game that Fulham have won in real life in the Premier League (As of writing this), so I will be hoping to get 3 points. My team is starting to come together and I feel we are not far off from getting our first points on the board. Let’s go Fulham!
