This week, I made just one change to the side that beat Huddersfield last time out. With the attacking threat of Mo Salah in mind, Ryan Sessegnon was dropped for Joe Bryan at left back.

Liverpool vs Fulham

The game couldn’t have started better for us. After some brilliant work from Joe Bryan down the left, the ball was crossed into Alexsander Mitrovic, who headed the ball into the net, giving us an early lead!

Our lead only lasted 15 minutes, however, as Roberto Firmino equalised for Liverpool. Mo Salah quickly put Liverpool ahead just a minute later, and just like that, we were behind.

Then after a series of blunders from Andre Schurrle, including giving away a peanlty, we found ourselves 5-1 down at half-time. Awful.

2nd Half

Our 2nd half performance was much more encouraging, with Ryan Babel, Havard Nordtveit and Luciano Vietto all being brought on. Ryan babel got his first goal for the club late in the game, with a wonderful strike into the top left. He then got an assist for Lucaino Vietto’s headed effort. It was all too little too late for us, however, as the game ended 5-3 to Liverpool

Match Reaction

I was not expecting much going into this game, if I’m honest. After going 1-0 up, I maybe shouldn’t have gotten hopes up, as our defence was just unable to cope with Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah. The performances of Lazar Markovic and Andre Schurrle were particularly disappointing this week. Ryan Babel and Luciano Vietto both contributed with goals from the bench, however, which gives me something to think about.

Next Opponent: Southampton (Afvers)

Next week is a much more winnable game. We will be up against Southampton, managed by Avfers. This is one of the few games Fulham actually won in real life, so I will be looking to do so in the FM Premier League as well! I’m not discouraged from this week’s performance, our opposition were just simply too good for us, but we will need to be better defensively next time out.
