Morocco has managed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 20 years. The last time the African nation was at a tournament, it was in France 1998. In recent years Morocco had some difficulties with performing, missing out on several international tournaments in a row. But for next year’s World Cup, the team qualified with fair ease.
They picked up 12 points from 6 games, not conceding a single goal in the entire CAF Third Qualifying Round. They eventually qualified by beating Ivory Coast on its home turf (0-2), which showed just how good this Moroccan side is.
To celebrate the fact Morocco has qualified for its first World Cup in 20 years, we searched the Football Manager 2018 Database and came up with 5 great players you should have a look at when playing the game. The list shows some young and talented players, but also some already known players.
The list in random order:
ACHRAF (REAL MADRID, 18)
A Madrid-born Moroccan, who has been playing in the youth academy at Real Madrid for his entire life. He is yet to make his debut in the first team, but has already picked up his first cap for Morocco. Achraf is an attacking-minded right full-back, who shows some amazing speed and mental attributes. He has the potential to become a really good player and if you are lucky, he will be a world-class defender in a matter of years.
HAKIM ZIYECH (AJAX, 24)
Probably the best known player on this list. The 24-year-old midfielder is a real playmaker at Ajax and he loves to join the attack. Ziyech is known for his good free kicks and he loves to take long shots on goal. The attacking midfielder is on a long-term deal at Ajax, but the Dutch giants are willing to negotiate a transfer. Ziyech is a player who can shine in the Premier League. A good buy for a mid-table team.
YOUSSEF EN NESYRI (MALAGA, 20)
This young striker made his debut in the Malaga first team last season and he is set to claim a first team spot at the Spanish La Liga club. En Nesyri is a wanted player in FM18 and with a 18M release clause, we understand why that is. He is a good player at the start of the game and he has the potential to become a good goal scorer. En Nesyri is quick on his feet and shows some good dribbling and finishing skills.
MOHAMED RABBAS (CHIEVO, 17)
The youngest player on the list is Mohamed Rabbas. The 17-year-old midfielder currently plays for Italian side Chievo Verona, but we reckon that won’t be long. He is a wanted player, being chased by clubs like FC Porto in the game. Rabbas is a talented player that can play in more than one position and shows some good playmaking skills. A player to watch, that is for sure.
MIMOUN MAHI (FC GRONINGEN, 23)
If you are looking for a speedy winger with enough potential, Mimoun Mahi could a good signing for your squad. Now, he won’t be good enough for clubs like Barcelona or Manchester City, but for several clubs in Germany, Italy and Spain, Mahi could a solid player. Mahi can play on either flank and as a striker. He is a good dribbler and has the ability to outplay the toughest opponents.
