The winter transfer window has closed in most parts of the world, but there are still players available to sign as free agents. We take a look at some of the top free agents in Football Manager 2019, who you will be able to sign as free agents if you use the FMI 2019 Update.
1Yohan Cabaye (33)
A player with an array of experience in the best leagues, including the Premier League and Ligue 1. The 33-year-old midfielder was surprisingly released on a free transfer by Al-Nasr and is still a quality player. Available for any team in a top 5 league, should be available for top teams in leagues below that.
2Benoit Tremoulinas (32)
The left full-back has been without a club for roughly 18 months after the former France international left Sevilla on a free transfer in July 2017. Despite his lack of games or football in general, Tremoulinas is still a good addition to a squad as cover or back-up.
3Stéphane M’Bia (32)
The 32-year-old Cameroonian holding midfielder has been a free transfer since his contract in China was terminated. The former Sevilla and Olympique Marseille midfielder could well act as cover for mid-table teams in the Premier League, but he is also willing to sign for clubs in the Championship.
4Obafemi Martins (34)
Quick as lightning! The former Newcastle United and Internazionale striker is 34-years-old and has never stayed at a club longer than one or two seasons, but if you like to play a 4-4-2 with a target man and poacher, Martins is an amazing free agent to acquire in some lower leagues.
5Gregory van der Wiel (30)
The former Dutch international played in a World Cup final in 2010 and signed for Paris Saint-Germain not long after that. In the past few years Van der Wiel has been having difficulties finding his form, but in FM19 he could be a very useful right wing-back.
6Emanuel Emenike (31)
Released by Las Palmas last summer the former Fenerbahçe and West Ham United striker is a typical target man that uses his physique to challenge opponents. Could be the ideal super sub if you decide to play long balls into the box.
7Abou Diaby (32)
He was tipped as the successor of Patrick Vieira at Arsenal, but injuries held him from reaching his full potential. He is injury prone in FM19, so be careful with him. But, the former France international is still a quality midfielder. He is willing to sign for clubs in the Championship for a 5k-per-week wage.
8Ibrahim Afellay (32)
He was signed by Pep Guardiola at FC Barcelona at one point of his career and many thought he could develop into a star for the Spanish giants. Two serious knee injuries have withheld the 53-time Dutch international of truly reaching his full potential. Afellay was released by Stoke City on a free transfer and is ready to sign for clubs at Championship level.
9Younes Kaboul (32)
The 32-year-old French centre-back was released by Watford after he struggled with injuries. Kaboul has a lot of experience in the Premier League, playing for Tottenham, Portsmouth, Sunderland and Watford. He is not the quickest centre-back anymore, but for a lower team he could be a valuable asset. Is willing to join on a 30k-per-week salary.
10Jeremy Toulalan (34)
The experienced former France international has been looking for a club since January 2018 after leaving Girondins Bourdeaux. The 34-year-old is a solid defensive midfielder and still has enough qualities to play in top leagues outside of the top 5 in Europe.
