We start this Update with the Norwegian Cupen. If you read the March Update you would know we managed to qualify for the Preliminary Final by beating Svelvik 3-1. We then got a home game against Kattem and managed to win that won fairly easy. Aidan Hawtin and Erlend Saebu picked up goals getting us a decent 2-0 victory. Because of the win, we were entered in the first round draw. Our opponent would be Oppsal. Unfortunately we did not win that match. The game ended in a goalless draw after 90 minutes, with Oppsal bagging two goals in the first half of Extra Time. A real shame to go out that way, because both goals we conceded came after a personal error by one of my defenders and not because of a good attack by Oppsal. A draw would have been a fair result, with penalties deciding the outcome. But to stay positive; the qualification alone had us earn 10k, so that is nice.
After four matches into the season we can not be too happy. We had a great start with a 1-2 away win at Ardal, but after that we were lucky to get consecutive draws. In both games we were the ones that equalized in the final third of the game. My hopes were then very high for the last game in April, a home game against FU/VO, who were in 14th place on the day of the match. Unfortunately they showed us a lethal touch in front of goal and they managed to net the first three shots on goal they got. They were extremely efficient and that broke the team. The lads heads were down and we couldn't get a hold of the play. In the second half we stood up, but even though Sam Humphreys got us a goal, we weren't able to change the outcome of the match. Our first loss of the season...
After four matches we sit in ninth place and that is not where we want to be at the end. But there are still plenty of matches to be played and we will get stronger as the season progresses, or at least I hope we do. We are still looking for some new players, especially in the defensive part of the team. We are currently playing in a 3-5-2 formation, but we don't have proper Wingbacks, so our crossing is rather poor at the moment.
Were there any transfers this month? Yes there were, but not on the player front. We managed to pick up three members for the backroom staff; a Physio, a Coach and a Scout. With those three added to the team we have all available positions on the first team filled. I am hoping to convince the board to allow us some more coaches, as I would love to add a Fitness Coach to the team.
Erik Mykland - Scout
Jorn Karlsen - Physio
Stian Lund - Coach
Well that's it for now. We didn't had the best opening months we could have imagined, but to be fair; I did expect it to be a long and hard season so I am not surprised about the results. For now; the only thing I can hope for is our Scouting to deliver the players I want and that we are able to sign them. We still have some room in our Wage Budget left, so there is some room to invest. Thank you for reading and I hope to have you back on the next Update, or that I can welcome you on my Social Accounts.
